Would you marry Namrata Shrestha?
There was an old thread in Sajha with a question "After all that has happened regarding her sex scandal, would you still marry her?" (Sorry, I don’t want to post the link to the thread.)
I resisted talking about the thread for some time and realize that, it is better for Namrata to clear these things out. Keeping one’s eyes doesn’t make the world disappear. So, healthy discussion should go on!
Let me summarize some of the answers
I like busenitz’s answer (although, I don’t agree on the statement that stopping the topic will stop the rumor):
I think you should rephrase the question: "Would she marry you?"
Most of the girls have s*x before marriage these days but her s*x happened to come to public. Just because nobody saw you doing that doesn’t mean you didn’t do it.
Guys, Camera agadi gare pani pachadi gare pani garekai ho so lets stop this topic.
Leave her alone.
I do agree with jai_nepal‘s views too:
If the questions is if she is "marriable"… Why not?
Who doesn’t have sex? Having sex is not a crime… it just so happened that it was caught on tape.. poor girl….. Who cares what she did in her past.. its the future I am concerned about!
But, there still are some like ghorle boko who says:
Honestly speaking, i do not have guts and I won’t be able to marry her!
I would rather marry a simple girl than to face criticisms in the Nepalese society.
A simple answer to this statement — how can he confirm the "simple girl" he is talking about is simple enough?
Another guy named facebook writes:
Having sex is not a big thing but having sex and filming it is a big thing!
I would not marry a girl who is exposed to whole world *** *** *** (not even her bf ) ! Dont compare her with any American or European star! Nepal is still third world and we dont dare to compare anything with any other country !
Filming was a mistake for sure. But, everybody do make mistakes and that is not the end of the world. They should be given chance to correct themselves.
Another dr babu says:
There is difference between Kim K and Namrata. Kim K filmed the sex for show and decided to make money out of it. Namrata on the other hand had sex with her boyfriend which they taped for themselves but unfortunately it went viral. She is not and has not tried to make money out of it. Having sex before marriage or taping it does not make one bitch/dog but making money out of it does.
Will I marry her? DEFINITELY! Now I know that she is good in bed.
Not-so-good intentions but, can’t disagree with the statement.
poon-hill should be a girl to understand the sentiments:
Well what made me really dislike her was having sex with someone else’s husband. Well this tag gonna be tattooed in her identify till the day she die….leave her alone brothers, she have already hit the ceiling of suffering.
Another footyfan give a long account of meeting Namrata:
I don’t think Crystal is necessarily ‘dragging’ Namrata’s misdeed, rather, I think she’s trying to present a scenario to see how "accepting" us, men are.
I met Namrata when I was in Nepal and I was simply blown away by how a talented and beautiful girl like her was enticed into sleeping with a married man, let alone filming a video. She’s a gorgeous woman with talent but as a Nepali guy, I’ve gotta be honest. Marrying her (even if I were to truly fall for her) will also come with a package, a title, a kukarma that she carries. I will never be able to illustrate what she did to my parents and hence, my answer would be, I wouldn’t marry her.
That said, personally, if I were to fall in love with a girl who has a bad "history" that hasn’t been exposed, I’d be willing to forgive and forget (despite me having a clean ‘record’ myself) provided that both of us loved each other well and truly.
With Namrata, now that her kartut’s been exposed, covering it up, ignoring all the trashtalking etc will be one hell of a task.I guess this goes along with someone else’s post on some different thread in which he said something along the lines "if you’re a woman and you don’t take caution while having ‘fun’ dating several guys, you will be one sorrow ass once you get older"…. Harsh but I think that’s the truth.
By the way, I think its high time "virgin"(or sexperienced) men stopped seeking virgin women. Such mentality would suit you if you were living in Kathmandu back in the 90s. Times have changed. Lets move on.
A "not a guy" violet7 says:
I am not a guy but I am still gonna post on this thread.
I think Namrata’s attitude towards this whole thing reflects a change the newer nepali generation has towards sex. It is not as taboo anymore. Look at her, she just shrugged the whole thing off. I remember her saying something like "Look, we made the video for our own personal use but now it is online, you can go watch it if you want". She was not embarrassed about it nor was she apologetic. Her attitude toward her scandal is unlike any other nepali person.Even her family members are very strong, if I had done such a thing, my parents would have comitted suicide for sure.
If I were a guy, would I marry her? No and I wouldnt even date her. She is beautiful though.
To a certain extent, I care about what people say about me and my family. It takes time to build a good image but it only takes 1 bad incident to ruin it.Imagine this happening every time you introduce your wife.
Person A: Do you know his wife well? Who is she? Where does she work?
Person B: Oh you don’t know, she was that woman whose sex tape was leaked years back.As people, we should not be too judgmental. We should let people do what they want and live their own lives. But this kind of mistake will follow you for the rest of your life and even your next generation might be punished for the mistake that you make. Imagine your kids being teased for what you did.
I hope people will be able to look past what she did and focus on what she can contribute to society with the skills that she have.
I don’t condemn her for having sex.
I condemn her for sleeping with a man she knows is married.
I condemn her for getting it on tape. That was just stupid.
